Inverness Mudroom / Laundry

For this Inverness, IL project, we remodeled a combined mudroom and laundry room into one cohesive, hardworking space. The goal was straightforward: generous storage, durable surfaces, and a clean aesthetic that carries across both functions. The design centers on custom white shaker-style cabinetry, which provides ample storage while keeping both areas bright and uncluttered. Underfoot, a striking patterned tile floor in shades of gray, white, and black runs through the entire space, adding a unique design element that ties the two areas together beautifully. On the laundry side, we installed a deep stainless steel sink with a modern faucet, set into a sleek black countertop that plays off the white cabinetry around it. Behind the sink, we ran a classic white subway tile backsplash almost to the ceiling — a practical, easy-to-clean surface that gives the room a fully finished, built-out look. The mudroom side is built for everyday use. We constructed a custom built-in featuring a warm wooden bench, white shiplap paneling, and five metal coat hooks, so coats and bags come off right at the door. Surrounding the bench, built-in shelving holds eight woven baskets and six fabric bins, giving everything a dedicated place and keeping the space organized day after day. Completed in 2023, this remodel reflects the kind of detailed carpentry and finish work GS Construction has been delivering since 2015: functional spaces with a clean aesthetic that hold up to real daily life.
